Extreme Switch

The new Taiko Audio Extreme Switch is an external network device intended to replace and optimize the direct ethernet interface to the Extreme. Milled from a solid block of copper, the Extreme Switch has a smoothly polished Chrome finish, with more finish options to come later. The provided connectivity is one in and one out. To this end, the switch contains one SFP+ input module slot and one SFP+ output module slot that both can be fitted with a range of options.
The input SFP+ slot can be fitted with either an RJ-45 connector module or a Fiber connector module.
The output SFP+ slot can be fitted with either an RJ-45 connector module, a Fiber connector module, or a DAC Cable in a variety of lengths ranging from 0,5 – 7m.

The new Taiko Audio Extreme Network Card is a single-connection PCIe option board for the Extreme Server.
It can go in any vacant PCIe slot and will effectively (not physically) substitute the Extreme’s on-board Network connection.
The card is powered internally via the PCIe slot.
There is a single SFP+ module slot that can be fitted with either an RJ-45 connector module or a Fiber connector module.

新しいTaiko Audio Extreme Switchは、Extremeへのダイレクトなイーサネットインターフェースを置き換え、最適化することを目的とした外部ネットワークデバイスです。銅の固まりから削り出されたExtreme Switchは、滑らかに磨かれたクローム仕上げで、仕上げのオプションは後日追加されます。接続は、1イン1アウトです。このため、スイッチにはSFP+入力モジュールスロットとSFP+出力モジュールスロットが1つずつあり、いずれもさまざまなオプションを装着することができます。
インプットSFP+スロットには、RJ-45コネクタモジュールまたはファイバコネクタモジュールを装着することができます。
出力スロットは、RJ-45コネクターモジュール、ファイバーコネクターモジュール、または0.5～7mの様々な長さのDACケーブルのいずれかを装着することが可能です。

新しいTaiko Audio Extreme Network Cardは、Extreme Server用のシングル接続PCIeオプションボードです。
空いているPCIeスロットに装着することができ、Extremeのオンボードネットワーク接続の代わりとなります（物理的にではなく）。
カードは、PCIeスロット経由で内部的に電源供給されます。
SFP+モジュールスロットが1つあり、RJ-45コネクタモジュールまたはファイバコネクタモジュールのいずれかを装着することができます。

＜将来発売予定のルーターとスイッチの担いについて＞

1) The switch + network card package turns a very noisy rj45 interface into a very quiet SFP interface. This combination also offloads some network processing from the server to the switch reducing internal processing noise. This alone improves Roon playback performance to above what you‘ve been reading as feedback from the 100 or so XDMS alpha testers. Naturally XDMS benefits too and remains the current Taiko SQ SOTA.

2) The router allows full control over the datastream being delivered to the Switch/Extreme. It can define all networking parameters and controls the actual amount and flow of data present on the network. It also allows controlling a wi-fi accesspoint to control wireless networking parameters. Whether or not you replace your internet modem is actually not that important, it will achieve what we want to do regardless. However less is more, it supports a lot and if it can replace your ISP provided device, why not. It has 5 network ports and can therefor create 5 separated networks.

In short:

1) The Switch / network card combo reduces noise by offloading (moving) processing from the Extreme to the Switch.
2) The Router reduces noise by controlling the actual DATA on the network leading to another significant lowering of noise.

1) スイッチとネットワークカードのパッケージは、非常にノイズの多いrj45インターフェイスを非常に静かなSFPインターフェイスに変えます。この組み合わせはまた、サーバーからスイッチにネットワーク処理の一部をオフロードし、内部処理ノイズを低減します。これだけで、Roonの再生パフォーマンスは、100人ほどのXDMSアルファテスターからのフィードバックとして読まれている以上のものに改善されます。もちろんXDMSも恩恵を受け、現在のTaiko SQ SOTAを維持しています。

2）ルーターは、Switch/Extremeに配信されるデータストリームを完全にコントロールすることができます。すべてのネットワークパラメータを定義でき、ネットワーク上に存在する実際のデータ量とフローを制御します。また、Wi-Fiアクセスポイントを制御して、ワイヤレスネットワークのパラメータを制御することができます。インターネットモデムを交換するかどうかは、実はそれほど重要ではなく、関係なくやりたいことを実現します。しかし、少ないことは多いことで、多くのことをサポートし、ISPが提供するデバイスを置き換えることができるのであれば、なぜそうしないのでしょう。5つのネットワークポートを備えているので、5つの独立したネットワークを構築することができます。

簡単に言うと

1) Switchとネットワークカードのコンボは、ExtremeからSwitchに処理をオフロード（移動）させることでノイズを低減します。
2) ルーターは、ネットワーク上の実際のDATAを制御することでノイズを低減し、さらに大きなノイズ低減効果をもたらします。
