Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems announces the New Momentum HD Preamplifier

CAVE CREEK, ARIZONA, MARCH 14, 2019— Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems today announced the Momentum HD Preamplifier, a major upgrade to the Momentum Preamplifier. The Momentum HD Preamplifier builds on the award-winning platform of the Momentum Preamplifier. The new HD status represents the high dynamic and high definition improvements that have been achieved in this substantial upgrade. The new Momentum HD Preamplifier incorporates advancements in the power supply, audio circuitry, and control sections.

Housed in a separate chassis for maximum isolation, the Momentum HD main power transformer is 33% larger as compared to the original Momentum Preamplifier. A unique winding technology, first employed in the Momentum M400 amplifier, delivers greater power output from the same footprint. Internal circuitry filters RF noise from the AC powerline, and compensates for asymmetric power waveforms and DC on the mains.

A completely new discrete differential FET input stage features two current sources per leg and an input impedance greater than 1MOhm. This ultra-high input impedance isolates the input stage and thus the entire audio signal path from external variables.
“This new input stage was an engineering experiment that surprised us with the level of fine-grain detail and delicate musical shadings. The subtleties of voices were rendered with a lushness and richness that were simply unattainable previously”. said Chief Designer Dan D’Agostino.

Taking advantage of the increased power supply capability, the output stages are now operating at a 36% percent higher voltage. “The increased output voltage has opened up the dynamics on both the micro and macro levels.” D’Agostino continued. “The speed of the dynamic contrasts jump out on a visceral level.”

Also new is the Bluetooth technology featured in the included remote control. The Bluetooth backbone extends the range of the remote by a factor of five and eliminates line of sight limitations that are inherent in IR remote controls.

Newly designed tone and volume control circuitry increases range and precision in both circuits.

Aesthetics have also been updated with the signature copper elements being reshaped to better match the Momentum M400 and S250 amplifiers.

Existing Momentum Preamplifier owners will be able to upgrade to the new Momentum HD Preamplifier electronics enhancements preserving value in their initial purchases.

The Momentum HD Preamplifier will begin shipping in March,2019 at $40,000 USD and upgrades for original Momentum Preamplifier owners will be $7,500 USD. Standard finishes include silver or black.

GOLDMUND PRESENTS THE NEW PRANA ACTIVE SPEAKER

 

In Hindu philosophy, the Sanskrit word for « life force » – Prana – is the universal sea of energy that infuses and vitalizes all matter. Prana is the breath. Without it the body can’t live. Prana – the name of the freshly launched flagship wireless loudspeaker – pays tribute  to our engineers who worked hard to design this exceptional piece and bring to life the musical message with a level of definition and neutrality never found before in a speaker system.
Prana speakers are fully constructed in the highest quality aluminium. Their sleek and contemporary look match with any colour. The smallest of its family in the sequence of Satya and Samadhi, Prana is suitable for any kind of decor and interior.
Amplifiers and filters are integrated within the speaker. It uses a combination of multiple drivers, each catering to a different frequency band. Prana drivers satisfy the customer’s high fidelity expectations in the reproduction of the musical message. They cover with utter precision the entire audio spectrum of musical instruments as well as voices, from the most elevated soprano to the gravest bass.
A product of the Goldmund Proteus Mathematical model, the Prana is a smart active speaker whose DSP’s include the Leonardo 2 technology (the latest version of our time alignment correction algorithm), digital crossovers, gains, and delays.
For perfect convenience, the Prana can be used wired or completely wireless aside the power supply. The speakers are a full system by themselves and, should one choose so, one could use them alone with a computer music library as a wireless source. For more ambitious systems with multiple sound sources such as your TV and disc player, the Prana can be coupled with the Goldmund Talisman Wireless hub or with any of Goldmund processors.
Prana has been designed to provide a sound that is the closest to reality. No colouration, no noise, no distortion, the Prana reproduces entirely and exactly what has been recorded. It comes with the implementation of the Goldmund mechanical grounding technology that evacuates spurious vibrations that affect the signal quality. Along with the Rossini 2.0 update we are releasing an update to our network firmware for Rossini, Vivaldi, and Vivaldi One devices. This release includes a complete re-write of our Roon Ready implementation and brings with it a number of performance and stability improvements. Please see the attached release notes for additional information on the contents of this update. Note that this version of the network firmware will not be immediately available for Network Bridge customers as we are finalising an update to the FPGA on that device. Network Bridge customers should expect an update for their devices in early 2019.

Update Information
Rossini 2.0 and network firmware 406 will be distributed as an online update via the internet. The process can be initiated from within the dCS app with the following steps:
1)     From the main screen of the dCS app tap on the wrench or gear icon in the upper right corner.
2)     Tap on the ‘Information’ button
3)     Tap on ‘Version’
4)     Tap on ‘Check for Updates’
5)     The user will be prompted to download and install the update.
For Rossini the process will take approximately 15 – 20 minutes and once complete the front panel will display ‘PLEASE RESTART’. At this time the device should be power-cycled using the rear panel switch.
Once complete the Rossini should be reporting the following software versions:
Main Board:  2.00
Network Board: 406
If both versions were not updated, please re-try the update process.
Vivaldi and Vivaldi One devices should be power-cycled after the network firmware update is complete and the device is once again available via the dCS app.
Once complete the unit should be reporting the following on the versions screen:
