YG Acoustics is pleased to announce an exclusive partnership with Cambridge Acoustic Sciences (CAS) to develop innovative loudspeaker technologies, both to launch a range of new models and to continue the evolution of the existing YG Acoustic products.

Founded in 2002, YG Acoustics is recognized as one of the most prominent companies in the high-end audio industry, a pioneer whose technical advancements remain unmatched. YG Acoustics has a strong heritage of breakthrough technological innovations, such as our patented BilletDome tweeter, as well as other advances including ViseCoil, BilletCore, ForgeCore, DualCoherent, ToroAir and FocusedElimination. These, combined with world-class, in-house precision manufacturing capabilities, have allowed YG Acoustics to deliver generation after generation of industry-leading loudspeakers.

Cambridge Acoustic Sciences (CAS) provides state-of-the-art measurement, design and consulting services to audio equipment manufacturers. Founded by two PhD astrophysicists from Cambridge University, CAS applies cutting-edge materials science, physics, mathematics and computational modelling to audio sector challenges. This includes design and manufacturing experience in high-performance materials such as composites, titanium and magnesium alloys, as well as detailed modelling of both physical systems and electronics.

YG Acoustics and CAS have agreed to a long-term strategic partnership where CAS will work exclusively with YG Acoustics in the field of audiophile loudspeaker design.

YG Acoustics’ industry-leading in-house expertise, technologies and manufacturing capabilities will be combined with the knowledge and resources of the CAS team: computational modelling and design, experience in advanced, high-performance materials and superb facilities for acoustic and electronics testing.

Our new flagship, a homage to the 22nd Boenicke Audio company anniversary, is born, at least in digital form(at). All pictures are computer generated, we hope to present the first fully finished prototype later this year.

The special technical feature, apart from all our unique tuning measures, which are taken to a whole new level here, is the fact that all three drivers are suspended via a proprietary mechanism and the speaker itself is placed on three newly designed rectangular swing base towers.

Efficiency in treble is up to 101 dB / 2.83 V, in the midrange around 95, and in bass and upper bass again around 96 – 100, depending on room gain. Minus 3 dB at around 33 Hz.

Internal cabling is what we use for our S2.

Drivers are custom made Supravox 28.5 cm with paper voice coil former, bronze phase plug and an Audax dome tweeter in a bronze half sphere.

W22 will be produced 6 times a year and will be sold to the most discerning individuals only.
There is no official price tag for the W22. Price will be individually determined in close contact with each potential customer.

Only one type of wood will be available, namely acetylated Accoya. It’s almost 100% dimensionally stable, which is more and more important the larger the dimensions of the solid wood enclosure gets.
There will be solid wood side panels options available per customer specifications.
