Reed 1H is the latest addition to our entry level tonearm series. And, for the first time, we introduce carbon fiber as primary Reed 1H’s armwand material.
After a thorough research we found a way to make the carbon fiber armwand’s acoustic properties close to ones that normally are typical for the wood.
By using soft wood to damp the carbon fiber tube, our new armwand’s acoustic properties become considerably better than using carbon fiber alone, and can be compared to wooden armwands.
Reed 1H has a cardanic bearing system: vertical axis has thrust rotation bearings and horizontal axis is based on thrust pivot bearings (same concept as in Reed 3P). Such bearing construction eliminates wobbling of a bearing, which has a great impact on the quality of the sound.
Among other features, Reed 1H tonearm has azimuth adjustment, replaceable headshell and VTA adjustment. Tonearm height adjustment range is from 28mm to 48 mm. It is also easily tuned and can be mounted on most turntables out of the box or using an adapter.
Tonearm signal output is either 5 pin-DIN connector or Finewire 37 cables.
Antiskating: magnetic, similar to the one used in Reed 3P.
Lumina collection is the new Sonus faber line conceived on the notion that it is important to savor time for ourselves and celebrate life’s precious moments. In today’s world, we have come to fully appreciate our living spaces where these moments come to life. Our commitment is to deliver a luxury music experience in all Sonus faber homes, which is facilitated through our longstanding tradition of refined materials and careful craftsmanship.
LESS IS MORE We executed this minimalistic and perfectly squared design in order to emphasize the quality of materials used. This principal of minimalism directly captures the essence of the product, which was thoughtfully designed in conjunction with the theory “less is more”. Lumina collection comprises the core values of Sonus faber and its iconic materials, such as real multilayer wood, leather and the natural composition of drivers. Simplicity remains central to the collection’s identity with its easy set-up, accessible price point, and excellent sound performance, empowering everyone to enjoy a true Sonus faber experience completely made in Italy.
YOUR HOME THEATER EXPERIENCE
The essential combination of the three models is a perfectly balanced solution for traditional stereo system enthusiasts as much as for those looking to experience a multichannel home theater system.
Lumina I looks great as an individual stereo pair or as surround speaker in a cinema set up; Lumina III ensures powerful, distortion-free sound and high speech intelligibility for games and movies; Lumina Center I is perfectly aligned in appearance and acoustics with its siblings in the full collection.
Completing the range there are the Gravis I and II subwoofer models, to achieve maximum performance of one’s home entertainment system, deep low-frequency effects (LFE), and a fuller listening experience. Lumina and Gravis, in a 5.1 channel configuration, will offer you enveloping effects for movies and an immersive atmosphere for music concerts not just from the screen, but all around you.

The power supply is undoubtedly one of the bottlenecks in high-end music reproduction. Probably those who have at least devices with a built-in power supply unit and a resilient low-temperature device plug to which a high-quality power cord can be connected. The situation is different if a manufacturer has opted for an outsourced power supply in the interests of low interference. That can work brilliantly – but it can also be a waste bin. This is where the power supply specialists from IsoTek come in and present their new PSU 124 power supply unit. The “Power Supply Unit” provides both an output that can be regulated from one to 24 volts and a twelve-volt power supply. This gives you the flexibility you need to swap standard power supplies for the PSU 124 and thus achieve new sonic dimensions.
IsoTek PSU 124
We know that clean electricity with stable voltage has a direct influence on sound quality. At IsoTek a lot of effort is made to enable audible improvements even for those who previously had to be content with the almost inevitable limitations of outsourced power supplies. The PSU 124 is not a cheap plastic box that is plugged into the mains socket, but a component the size of an adult device, packaged in an aluminum housing, which, among other things, protects against interference frequencies and vibrations. High-frequency interference is consistently suppressed in the PSU 124. The transformer windings were shielded in order to minimize the capacitive crosstalk between the primary and secondary coil and to prevent stray field emissions from occurring in the first place.
Permanent temperature monitoring ensures that there is an average of 20 degrees inside the PSU 124 so that the electronics find optimal working conditions. If the device heats up excessively, for example because it was set up incorrectly, a control loop pulls the ripcord at exactly 60 degrees and switches off the PSU 124 until the temperature is normal again.
The upgrade power supply has a similar positive effect as the use of a line filter; the combination of both devices makes sense. The voltage set at the variable output is shown on the flagship PSU 124 on a sharp, easy-to-read display. This successfully avoids accidentally “grilling” connected devices that are allowed to draw up to three amps of current. However, there is a second protection against inattentiveness: fast micro-fuses keep watch. IsoTek was founded by British visionary Keith Martin, who recognized the impact of clean power on the sound of electronic devices used to play music. Today IsoTek is one of the award-winning market leaders in the field of high-end line filters and power cords.
