Jan. 8, 2013 – Boulder Amplifiers is excited to announce the debut and release of the 3060 Class A Stereo Amplifier at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, January 8 through 11, 2013. At nearly 450 lbs. and producing 900 WPC, the 3060 is by far the largest and most powerful stereo amplifier ever released by Boulder.
All audio circuitry within the 3060 is linear Class A, primarily derived from Boulder’s 3050 Mono Amplifier. Bias current is actively monitored and adjusted in order to increase efficiency and reduce wasted radiated heat energy. The 3060 utilizes 120 output devices to generate power output of 900 watts-per-channel into any load. It is capable of massive current swings, enabling the amplifier to drive any loudspeaker to realistic performance levels. Units will only be shipped operating at 240V AC mains feed (no 100V or 120V units will be produced) in order to guarantee full-rated power output. A complete array of protection and status monitoring circuits are continuously active. All metalwork is cut on Boulder’s own CNC machining centers and features the distinctly modern, angled appearance unique to all 3000 Series products. A black granite and stainless steel platform is cut and polished to match the angled surfaces of the amplifier and is shipped with each 3060. The US manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 3060 is $115,000 (prices will vary outside of the United States).
The 3060 is the second release in the 3000 Series and showcases Boulder’s latest thinking in amplification technology. The 3060 also expands the 3000 Series product line and marks a substantial improvement in performance over Boulder’s own 2000 Series, moving the game on from what has long been considered the benchmark in high-performance audio amplification. This sets the stage for numerous future developments in other series of Boulder products.
The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world’s largest technology-related consumer electronics tradeshow and takes place each January in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. CES is sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association and is not open to the public. It typically hosts exhibitions of new technology trends, previews of products and new product announcements.

Joseph Audio Pearl3 – Because Every Note Matters!
Rose petals flutter, thunder and sprinkling of rain – A Pearl is revealed!
The very breath of music flows as dynamic nuances and minute details are reproduced with the gentle touch of a master’s brush. Thunderous low frequencies are delivered with authoritative and articulate control as you are transported into an environment of music that is effortless, natural, alive and whole.
Masterful in its pure revelation of music and magical in its ability to utterly disappear, the Pearl2 is a loudspeaker for music lovers that want to get off the upgrade merry-go-round and fall in love for life.
Housed in separate enclosures and linked by solid brass points, the Pearl’s tweeter and midrange are isolated from the dual woofers below. The input posts are the Patented Cardas vise-type design (CE approved) for maximum contact. The aluminum cone woofers were custom created with additional magnet mass, and copper pole piece for the cleanest possible bass reproduction. The zinc alloy cast frame has extreme rigidity and narrow fingers to minimize any internal reflections.
A field array of tiny yet powerful magnets are spaced around the edge of the tweeter’s voice coil, allowing the area behind the dome to remain clear of any reflective materials. To hear the Pearl3s is to experience your favorite recorded music anew. You can relax and forget about the usual artifacts that cloud the sound and render it an artificial imitation. The Pearl3 propels you back in time to experience performance nuances and musical magic that lesser systems gloss over.
SPECIFICATIONS: Sensitivity: 86 dB SPL, with 2.83 volts RMS @ 1 meter, 4 pi (anechoic).
Sensitivity combined with impedance indicates how much amplifier power is required for the loudspeaker to play at satisfying volume levels. When comparing this spec to low impedance (4 ohm) designs, you must add 3 dB to the figure, since 4 ohm loads draw twice the current from the amplifier, providing the illusion of greater sensitivity, while placing more stress on the amplifier’s power supply. The moderate sensitivity of the Pearl indicates that even smaller amplifiers can achieve realistic levels in all but the largest rooms.
Impedance: 8 ohms nominal, 6 ohms minimum.
System impedance indicates whether the speaker presents a “hard” or “easy” load on the amplifier. True 8 ohm speakers are less amplifier and cable sensitive, and partner well with a broader range of amplifiers, including tube designs.
Crossover: 3-way Series/Parallel Asymmetrical Infinite Slope Crossover at 2 kHz & 130Hz.
Constructed of specially selected components, woofer, midrange and tweeter crossover circuits are physically independent. Each network is tested and individually calibrated to a high degree of precision, resulting in a virtually perfect match to the original design prototype.
The steep filter slopes ensure good acoustical behavior in the crossover regions, with a minimum of acoustical interference, along with low distortion and wide dynamic range. Driver acoustic responses are in-phase throughout the crossover regions.
Frequency Response: The Pearl2 delivers a very smooth and even response over a very broad listening window. Unlike conventional low order crossover designs, the speaker retains its sonic balance over a wide angle both vertically and horizontally. This results in a higher level of fidelity than a simple on axis measurement can reveal.
Listening window response: within 2dB from 25 Hz to 20 kHz.
Dimensions and weight: 43″ (1092.2 mm) H x 11″ (279.4 mm) W x 18″ (457.2 mm) D.
Shipping weight approx 260 lbs. (144 kg) / Packed in 4 cartons.

Light Harmonic, a 2013 Innovations Award honoree, is proud to introduce the DaVinci Dual DAC at CES 2013, Rooms #29-326 and #29-328 of the Venetian.
Light Harmonic has steadily redefined the state of the art in digital playback since its founding in 2010. Light Harmonic’s DaVinci DAC utilizes unique, proprietary design elements to set a new standard of fidelity and musicality in digital music reproduction:
– A 384K/32 Bit Asynchronous USB input which accepts genuine 384K/32 Bit pulse code modulation (PCM) digital audio without artificial up-sampling.
– 3-L Buffering provides a jitter-free, three-layer elastic buffer between the music source and digital sample conversion, completely decoupling speed fluctuations in the source, and enabling DaVinci to convert music samples using the most accurate core clocks.
– 3X Clocks provides on-the-fly selection of one of three highly precise -166dB phase-error clocks, according to the sample rate of the input file.
However, even DaVinci’s amazing performance was capable of being improved-upon: a DAC designed for PCM playback will not offer optimal performance with DSD, nor will a DAC designed for DSD extract the best performance from a PCM source.
The new DaVinci Dual DAC eliminates all constraints in performance by providing completely separate and discrete decoding engines for both formats: one designed and optimized specifically for PCM, one designed and optimized specifically for DSD–hence, the name “Dual DAC”.
The new Dual DAC will be demonstrated in a system featuring components from Dan D’Agostino, Wilson Audio, Pass Labs and MIT, with a sneak peek at an exciting new, cutting-edge music server and a trend-setting streamer from Light Harmonic. We invite all media, dealers and distributors to take a look, and a lengthy listen.

The design of the P20 was not a simple task even though many of the ideas and concepts are taken from older brother P30. This means that many of the properties go again. Basic idea behind the P20 is setting a new standard for price and performance in amps. The preamplifier is perhaps the most “sensitive” device in a sound system because the signal level is so low that even the slightest noise or distortion mask the sound stage and not least the small details that give the music life.
In the development of P20 is used entirely new technologies, such as hand matched Silicon Germanium transistors. Moreover, Hegel implemented high frequency components that are not originally designed for sound and used them in ways that have never been done before. There are particular spent a lot of development on the volume attenuator, which is extremely important for the final resulat.
P20 is equipped with a system remote control, machined out of one solid piece of aluminum. It has the same bead-blasted and anodized surface as preamplifier itself. There are a total of 5 regular inputs. Both balanced and unbalanced. In addition, a special Home Theatre input integration with Surround systems. Finally, there is both balanced and unbalanced outputs and a fixed line-level output.
Technical Specifications:
Inputs: 1 XLR, 4 RCA, 1 Home Theatre.
Outputs: 1 XLR, 1 RCA outputs, 1 Rec Out.
Dimensions: 8 x 43 x 30 cm.
Weight: 10 kg.
Colours: Black or. silver.

Pass Laboratories will be introducing the Xs Preamplifier, which is Pass Labs’ new flagship of its preamplifier line, at the Venetian Tower suite 34-209 during CES 2013. The Xs Preamp is entirely new and designed to complement the ultimate performance standards of Pass Labs’ Xs-300 and Xs-150 amplifiers. The Xs Preamp is quieter than the XP-30 and has an improved power supply. In appearance, it resembles the Xs Amplifiers and features two large chassis built with a true dual-monaural topology. Pass Lab’s Xs preamplifier has several circuit boards fabricated from materials sourced in many cases from the military and high-speed computer sectors for their superior performance. Pass Labs has optimized each circuit board through an arduous trial-and-error process for top performance in each of the functional areas for which a board is employed. Circuit boards for power supply circuits have different requirements than ones for gain stages. In the Xs Preamp, each board is optimized for its specific use. Each of the two channels has its own power supply board, each with a refined circuit design and layout. Their 100,000-microfarad (uF) capacitors are optimized for low noise and high performance through the use of a variety of materials, from highly reliable electrolytics to a custom polypropylene. Newly available silicon carbide semiconductors further heighten performance by dropping noise below the level of Pass Lab’s XP-30 preamplifier. The circuit boards for the gain stages have been completely redesigned for maximum sonic impact. They employ a direct-coupled (DC), ultra-symmetric gain path with high-bias Class A circuitry, and feature auto bias and DC-compensation to maintain peak performance. An extra large, high-definition display addresses listeners desire to know a music system痴 status even from across a brightly lit room. The 20-character display is easy to read and dimmable. The Xs Preamp comes supplied with a remote control. Its rear panel includes 6 inputs, a tape loop, dual-power input connections, dual balanced outputs, and variable outputs for bi-amping and use with multi-room systems.

Price black $25500, walnut $28500 with stands.
Release at CES 2013.
Raidho has for the last 6 years been working with cones from Aluminum-oxide, as that is one of the hardest and stiffest materials, placed at a 9 on the Mohrs scale for hardness. We wanted a stiff material as to move the membrane resonances up and away from the pass-band. The ceramic cone from the C.1.1 has a first fundamental at app 12.5 KHz..(app 3dB peak) and we use the driver below app 3KHz where we cross it over with a 2.order roll-off . This is already in absolute terms an incredible performance…
Then why look further…?? I guess that is just the way we are, seeking and wondering what if…… Diamond is just a 10 on Morhs scale.. From nine to ten is not a big number, but in real-life values that one digit translates into a material that is 140 times harder than the ceramic we currently using… That mowed the resonance peak up where we cannot measure. Does it matter…. Oh yes it does… Is it Costly… Dont ask…
What is Diamond, and why bother.
Diamond is carbon locked in the tightest possible configuration. Natural Diamond is rare and formed under extreme pressure deep deep down under the ground. Pure diamond is pure crystalline bonded in an SP3 triangular structure, it’s totally glasslike transparent. (some say even liked by woman).
Industrial diamond is formed by a number of different industrialized processes where carbon atoms are forced so close together, (by pressure or by speed) that they can form the hard triangular Diamond SP3 bonds.
At Raidho we work with a process where the pressure to form the Diamond Bonds is created by building the needed pressure is formed by speed where our ceramic membranes are bombarded by carbon ions at speeds close to light. I our process we can reach around 50% SP3 bonds in the 10 um thick layer we build on top of the ceramic surface we have on our membranes. The rest of the material is SP2 bonded carbon “Graphite”
We have found that the 50% shearing between SP2 and SP3 is the optimum point for the process ability, the bonding and the improvement in stiffness ratio.
We could process the surface layer into more dense structures with more SP3, and less SP2 but then we would have to reduce the layer thickness and thus get less of the improved stiffness we are searching for. The balance is the internal stresses created in the diamond forming process. If stresses are too high the result becomes brittle and breaks the bonding to the substrate. With just an increase to 60% we would have to reduce the thickness to 1/5 and thus loose most of the stiffness gain. The Graphite Content makes the Diamond Layer Black(ish) in finish
With the Layer we have we are capable of improving the Stiffness of the cone so much that we push the first fundamental resonance outside the 20 KHz pass band we normally associate with HiFI, this means that the resonance peek (which by the way is “only” 3 dB) is damped more than 36dB by the crossover and is also pushed so far out that the energy content is the music signal is vanishing low. With Diamond membranes we remove this last bit of material coloration emerging from inner material vibrations in the Cone.
While the C series already set a solid mark for resolution and naturalness, the D-series just takes you that one step closer. To be Honest I was astound by the fact that something you can’t even measure on the finished speaker could make such a profound difference. It’s a totally new Ballgame, moving the target for the natural being there to a completely new level.”
