Magico LLC, the leader in high-performance loudspeaker design and manufacture, is proud to announce their first subwoofers – the QSub-18 and the QSub-15. Built around the renowned Q platform, the QSubs set new standards in low frequency sound reproduction. Capable of delivering 136 dB sound pressure level with less than 1% total harmonic distortion at 20Hz, the message is simple: if you think you have heard low frequencies before, think again. According to Magico CEO and chief designer Alon Wolf, “Bass has never been heard like this before. For the first time, low frequencies can be produced with unprecedented clarity.”
The QSub-18 weighs over 550 lbs. and has massive power handling capability of 8,000W, delivering thundering low frequencies that are fast, pure, and devastatingly accurate. As the images below illustrate, most conventional subwoofers fail to address the biggest problem in reproducing low frequencies: enclosure warping. Due to the enormous sound pressure buildup, the pliable walls of typical enclosures absorb a tremendous portion of the energy generated by the drivers, leading to distortion and massive group delay (smearing). The QSub can reach an internal sound pressure level of to 175dB – the equivalent of a commercial jet at takeoff – with less than 1% displacement of common enclosures.
Two massive woofers, each capable of 34mm of linear excursion and handling power of 8,000 Watts, are mounted in 2″ thick aluminum baffles and fire adversely in phase to cancel out driver-borne resonances and lower the tremendous internal pressure. This is the way a subwoofer should be built.
At the heart of the QSub is a revolutionary new digital amplifier equipped with a 7,000VA power supply and regulated output stage. It develops an astonishing 6,000Wii. Designed to operate in two channel music or theater systems of the highest quality, the QSub has an onboard digitally-controlled active crossover for seamless integration with the main loudspeakers. The controller can also be bypassed for home theater use.
Representing an exciting addition to the trailblazing Q-Series of loudspeakers, the QSub will set a new standard in low frequency reproduction. In spite of its extraordinary performance, the QSub is a fairly compact (albeit heavy) unit that will not invade the listening environment, and can be ordered in Magico’s M-CAST range of satin colors or their signature hard black anodized finish.
Magico will be demonstrating the QSub-18 at CEDIA 2013 in Denver, Colorado at Booth 3812 from September 26 – 28.

The US Retail Price of the Magico QSub-18 is $36,000 and the QSub-15 is $22,000. Hard anodized finished is available at an additional cost. Delivery will begin in Q4 2013.

THE OPULENCE
The MoonAudio Opulence is a state of the art audio transducer system designed to redfine what is possible in home music reproduction. A strictly limited edition run of only 10 pairs will be produced, each pair hand-signed by the designer.
The Opulence is the latest in the series of what MoonAudio calls its “ultra-limited edition functional acoustic art works”. MoonAudio sells its limited edition products to a refined client base offered exclusively through HigherFi, the world’s largest retailer of ultra-luxury audio products.
Each unit is hand-crafted using the world’s best materials, parts and drivers and manufactured in the USA. The Opulence weighs over one ton due to an integrated internal vibrational control system derived from stealth fighters and tactical submarine technology.
The Opulence also employs innovative magnetic control systems developed from nuclear reactor containment to structure internal magnetic fields in a way that is non-damaging to music reproduction. The designers of the Opulence have been involved in the ultra high end audio industry internationally for the past 25 years where they methodically crafted the crucial design elements integrated into the products design. Installation and set-up in the customers home anywhere in the world is included in the purchase price.

Scarlatti、PaganiniをDual AES/EBUによるDSD伝送に対応する予定との話が以前よりありましたが、いよいよ対応開始とのことです。
まずはScarlatti Transportから。
・Scarlatti Transportは、ファームウェアをVer1.11にアップデートすることで、AES/EBU×2にて、DSD出力が可能になりました。Vivaldi DACと接続することで、AES/EBU×2によるDSD再生が可能となります。
同様のアップデートはPaganini Transportにも順次行われる予定です。
なお、Scarlatti DACやPaganini DAC、Debussy DACも、AES/EBU×2にてDSDを受けることができるアップデートが行われるのではないかと思います。

Monitor Audio launches new Radius Series speakers and Radius One soundbar
Monitor Audio has revealed details of its new Radius Series speakers, bringing new versions of the popular Radius 45, 90 and 270 speakers, plus a new 200 centre, re-engineered subwoofers and a Radius One soundbar.
The new Radius speakers, which are set for release this September, come with new all-metal driver configurations and C-CAM bass drivers and tweeters.
