Technical research highlights:

It was developed using FEA (Finite Element Analysis). This kind of approach is only done on multimillion dollar projects. It allows to forecast the behaviour of the mechanical block in terms of vibrations, electromagnetic emissions, mechanical stability, etc.  For instance, FEA is applied in airplane wings, Formula 1 racing cars, etc.
Some of the advantages are:

1. Predictable mechanical influence from the environment to the delicate optical pickup. Optical pickup should be immune from mechanical vibration.

2. To ensure spinning disc stability: in a CD or SACD, rotation speed is constantly changing. This generates a collateral effect. Vibrations needs to be routed away from the pickup as quickly as possible and damped in their way out. The optimisation solution is done by FEA.

3. Next is electric charge build up on a compact disc. A CD is made of policarbonate (plastics).   They store static charge transferred to them. When you play a CD, the static charge starts to spin too. Lenz’s Law states that any charge in motion creates a electronmagnetic wave. This wave radiates right on top of the optical to the electrical photodiode. The use of FEA created an minimisation (mechanical algorithm) by re-routing such unwanted induced currents.

A newly developed spiked footer solution providing solid coupling to the floor
HAYWARD, CA – Magico, LLC the Leader in High Performance Loudspeaker Design and Manufacture, is pleased to announce a newly developed spiked footer solution called the SPOD.

The SPOD is based on the scientific design principles of Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) and provides an effective way to couple Q-Series, S-Series (MkI / MkII) and V-Series loudspeakers to the floor while dissipating unwanted mechanical energy away from the enclosure. Demonstrable results include increased dynamics, enhanced focus, greater resolution, and a closer representation of the original musical performance as it was intended during the recording process.

The main structure of the SPOD is formed from multiple machined aluminum sections which when assembled form a vertical stack. A solid pure copper substrate center round is sandwiched by a top and bottom layer of aluminum that when compressed together facilitates the Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) function. An adjustable spiked footer threads into the SPOD base and when locked into position provides solid coupling to the floor.

New solid black acrylic side panel launches across our upper ranges

We’re delighted to announce a new styling alternative for our full-size component ranges, Reference and Chord. All double- and quad-height products* in our two upper ranges can now be ordered with high-quality solid black acrylic side panels as an alternative to our traditional Integra Leg System, at no additional cost. Our single-height products** will also be available with the new side panels later in 2017.

The side panels are precision-machined from solid black acrylic and then machine-polished to a piano black finish, offering a softer look which reflects home décor. Compatible products can also be retro-fitted with the panels as a chargeable factory upgrade — please consult your local dealer for pricing.
