During the last year especially new amp models were the focus of interest in the presentation of the German company Accustic Arts, the brothers Schunk dedicate this year mainly new sources, most notably two new versions of the audio CD player , the Accustic Arts II player and the player Accustic Arts ES – MK 2

Munich HIGHEND Show, May 15-18, 2014 — Following AURALiC’s CES 2014 introduction of its Lightning Streaming technology, the industry’s first whole-house, high-resolution streaming solution that supports both Double-Rate DSD and DXD, the company is now debuting its first product in the Lightning family — ARIES — here in Munich.
The ARIES serves as a “bridge” between music files on network storage or high quality online streaming services and the consumers’ DAC — enabling DACs for the first time to stream high-resolution music quickly and wirelessly in virtually any sampling rate, including DSD, Double-Rate DSD and DXD.
ARIES is powered by AURALiC’s proprietary Tesla hardware platform that includes a Quad-Core ARM Coretex-A9 processor running at 1GHz, 1GB DDR3 onboard memory and 4GB internal storage. The Tesla platform has a calculation ability of 25,000 MIPS, more than enough to decode a vast spectrum of audio formats, including AAC, AIFF, ALAC, APE, DIFF, DSF, FLAC, MP3, OGG, WAV, WV and WMA.
The inputs of ARIES include Dual-Band high-speed WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 port. The outputs are USB audio host buffered by AURALiC’s patented ActiveUSB™ technology; low jitter digital audio outputs: AES/EBU, Coaxial and TOSLINK. The USB audio host can deliver PCM from 44.1 to 384 KHz at 16-, 24- and 32-bit resolutions as well as DSD, Double-Rate DSD for compatible USB DAC. The other digital outputs are limited to 192 KHz at 24-bit in maximum according to S/PDIF standard.
By using OpenHome structure which is adopted by U.K-based streaming solution manufacturer Linn, ARIES as well as all other Lightning based products support several advanced functions such as on-device playlist that allow control software to turn off during play and complete supporting of multi-room, multiple control points — functions that are not part of the legacy standards of the Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA).
ARIES is bundled with AURALiC’s Lightning DS App. The App has the capability to fully control ARIES to browse your music libraries on your network-attached storage (NAS), to steam high quality music content from service providers like Qobuz and WiMP, to control the playback and to select the hardware settings such as output channel and WiFi network, etc. The App also supports Songcast, a music distribution service that allows users to map computer’s sound to any Lightning-equipped system and to map sound between different Lightning systems in the house and streaming sound though Apple AirPlay.
The Lighting DS App is available on the iOS platform now with two dedicated versions optimized for operation on iPad and iPhone, respectively. The Android version of Lightning DS App will be available by September 2014, followed with desktop versions that support both Mac and Windows PC by the end of 2014.
ARIES is also compatible with other OpenHome and uPnP AV based control software such as Linn Kinsky and BubbleDS, although those software do not support most of Lightning DS App’s advanced functions such as the online streaming and hardware settings.
ARIES also features a 3” OLED display to let users view playback status, and an AURALiC RC-1 remote control to control basic operations such as Play, Pause and Select Track without needing to open the Lightning DS App.
“ARIES will begin a new era in the Hi-Fi industry,” said Xuanqian Wang, the President and CEO of AURALIC LIMITED. “We intentionally set the retail price starting at $999, an extremely affordable entry point, to offer everyone an opportunity to get onboard and enjoy the convenience and high quality music that modern technology can bring to all. AURALiC has invested and budgeted more than $1,000,000 to develop the Lightning Streaming system. We are committed to providing continuous, free online upgrades to improve the performance and compatibility for our solution, as well as to add new exciting functions support in the near future such as local storage playback, DSD upsampling, room acoustics correction and multi-channel”.
The ARIES Streamer Bridge will be available in two models, with shipments starting in June:

The two models, in handsomely designed enclosures as futuristic as the technology inside, are identical in computing calculation ability; software function and upgrade support plan in the future. The dimensions of both are: 9.8” x 7.9” x 2.75” W/D/H (25cm x 20cm x 7cm). Weight: 1.8 lb. (0.8kg) without external PSU.

It is a product line born and designed to satisfy the most demanding enthusiast (AEON is the forefather and its name means “era” or “eternity”). It is tested with anti-seismic methodologies and certified thanks to cutting-edge devices that spotted its weak points and gave us the chance to fix them and develop a unique project.
CFRP ENDOSKELETON
Composite materials as system’s frame. Carbon fiber is an anisotropic material (it reacts differently to the different forces that stress it) that is used in the aerospace and automotive industry for its characteristics of high stiffness and lightweight.
The CFRP (acronym for Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) ENDOSKELETON is made of a BIDIRECTIONAL carbon and glass fiber sandwich structure reinforced with structural resins. The fibers orientation (optimized thanks to structural and accelerometric tests that have evidenced the critical stress points) made possible the creation of a very light main frame (around 600 grams) able to bear up to 140 times its weight.
The CFRP ENDOSKELETON is a MONOCOQUE BODY, namely made of a unique monolithic element made in an aluminium machined solid plate. Monocoque bodies have no structural welding and this is their distinguishing feature. Monocoque bodies are the best that composite market can offer. (F1 cars have a safety airframe that is made using this technology).
LHPS SHELVES
Lightweight High Performance Sandwich is a material mix especially designed to enhance sound performances. Each shelf section has a mono directional carbon fiber shell 1 mm thick and a special polyurethane foam with overlapping epoxy resin that build out supporting ribs. The result is a perfect dispersion of residual vibrations (generated by the sources) in the form of heat, a very high resistance to compression and to static load and an optimum force distribution (as it is demonstrated by the modal analysis).
The four techno gel dumpings on which it leans, allow the movement of the shelf in three directions and dramatically reduce direct vibrations generated by the sound pressure.
TSA – Technogel Shock Absorber
To describe this exceptional material we need only few words!
Developed by Technogel Gmbh in cooperation with Bayer Chemical Company (it has been widely employed also in our ZEN LINE), Technogel is a unique “soft solid” material that joins together the 3D deformation of a fluid and the memory shape of a solid.
It’s a completely non-toxic and stable polyurethane substance (made without using oils or plasticizers), at first developed for the medical field and now used in a wide range of applications.
This material, exposed to dynamic stress, has demonstrated a degree of absorption and dispersion unique in its category.
EDT – Encapsulated Damper Technology
Here is the challenge!
Where else could we place a high performance rack if not on the only material that can guarantees a very high absorption coefficient? Every foot is adjustable in height thanks to threads 1 point per inch, it has inside an elastomer cylinder 15 mm thick and 3 degrees of constraint (thus it maintains the necessary stability).
Thanks to the material’s relative compliance (50 sh.) the foot easily adjusts to the surface and at the same time this compliance absorbs (and disperse in the form of heat) floor vibrations that are the vibrations that have a bigger strength (low frequency transverse waves).
A simple but effective solution.

Devialetのサイトから自分の使っているスピーカー用のSAMソフトウェアをダウンロードが可能になるとのこと。まずはB&W・Vividaudio向けからスタート。
SAM (Speaker Active Matching) has been described by Devialet as its’ second technical revolution following the ADH concept at the heart of its amplifiers. SAM was conceived to allow any Devialet amplifier to adapt its behaviour to the attached loudspeaker by processing the audio signal in the digital domain according to a detailed mathematical model of the loudspeaker’s bass performance (up to 150Hz). The proprietary code accounts for the speaker’s electrical, mechanical and acoustical behaviour and runs in realtime on the amplifier’s spare’ 400MHz SHARC DSP (one of three). Sample-by-sample, it claims to compute the exact voltage to be applied to the loudspeaker to ensure that its low frequency acoustical response remains a faithful image of the recorded.
Currently only one B&W and one Vivid loudspeaker are accommodated, but once a wider range is mapped by Devialet, and the system goes ‘live’, its customers will be able to select their own speaker from a list and download and install the SAM software via Devialet’s website “configurator”.
Despite the investment in staff and resources to complete this multi-year coding project, SAM will be free to existing Devialet owners who may now vote online for their favourite models to be included!
