At Pass Labs we build Fet amplifi ers with excessive output stages, huge heat sinks and massive power supplies. We use the highest quality components in simple linear topologies, assembled and tested with care and subtlety in Auburn, California. They measure well, sound great, and are reliable. Twenty years of ongoing innovation have kept the X and XA amplifi ers at the forefront of high-end audio. The XA25 embodies all this and less. A smaller stereo Class A amplifi er at a lower price, it takes advantage of the lower power requirements to have simpler single-ended circuitry and fewer parts in the signal path. This also allows elimination of degeneration, “that other negative feedback” in all stages. Simpler and fewer gain stages improves speed and stability. Lower voltages means the ability to run gain devices at higher bias currents, more deeply into Class A. Newer power Fet technology replaces banks of parallel small transistors with a single pair of industrial devices, each having a 700 watt / 40 amp rating. With no current-hogging issues and a new constant-current bias circuit to compensate for temperature drift, they connect directly to the loudspeaker without ballast resistors for lowest possible distortion and highest damping factor. No degeneration also increases the effi ciency and Class A operating current, allowing greater Class A operation into low impedance and reactive loads. The simple front end circuit uses uses two pairs of NOS complementary Fets in common-source mode in a current feedback (CFA) confi guration. The amplifi er is direct coupled and has no DC servos or frequency compensation. As with all Pass amplifi ers, the technology and construction are strictly in the service of the listening experience. The XA25 measures superbly, but its subjective qualities are most special. In an industry where products with great specs are often found to be dry and boring, this amplifi er breathes new life into the music.

Conjure Music from Almost Any Device
You can browse your digital music collection using MPaD apps, which are available for iOS and Android phones and tablets, or through Roon by using a phone, tablet or computer. The DMP-1 has its own internal web server with WiFi capability, so you can call up its web page from any device with a web browser to browse your music and perform setup functions. If it can run a web browser, it can control the DMP-1.
Lots of audio devices offer USB connections, but usually just one. We included four USB inputs on the DMP-1, so you can connect a couple of USB drives and still have room for a couple of USB sticks, too. Through either the DMP-1’s web interface or through MPaD, you can easily browse through all the content on all the USB devices — right along with all the content on your networked devices, too.
Fear No Format
We built the DMP-1 as a true high-end audio server, so it handles the high-resolution audio files audiophiles prefer. It supports WAV, FLAC and AIFF files in resolutions up to 24-bit/192-kilohertz, as well as DSD files.
When you use the DMP-1 with the DDP-1, you can use the I2S interface, which provides jitter-free transfer of digital music data. The DMP-1 also includes USB, AES/EBU and coaxial digital outputs, so it can be used with other digital preamps and DACs, too.
An Almost Magical Upgrade
The DMP-1 includes an external DC power supply, and it can also work with the Audio Alchemy PS-5 upgrade power supply, which has outputs to power multiple Audio Alchemy components. The PS-5 maintains separate feeds for analog and digital/control circuits, with separate positive and negative rails for analog circuits, well as large banks of storage capacitors to provide smooth, essentially ripple-free power to all connected components.
