Four 600VA switched mode power supply modules with an impulse power rating of 2100VA each are directly connected to the power amplifier boards for lowest contact resistance and shortest signal path from the power supply to the loudspeaker binding post. At its inputs the 717 power amplifier features the same innovative input stage as used for the 727 preamplifier The 717 can be configured as stereo amplifier, dual mono amplifier or as bridged mono amplifier.

For High End Munich 2024, Stenheim introduces its new Alumine Five platform for the Alumine Five models. This elegant aluminium plinth is machined from solid billet and achieves the same effect as the Reference Platform developed for the Reference series, increasing stability and making fine-tuning the set-up far simpler through increased adjustability of height and rake. These parameters are set via discrete allen bolts on top of the spikes, different sets of which can be selected to suit different floor types. Sound is also improved thanks to the superior vibration damping that the Alumine Five platform offers. The platform can be retrofitted to any Alumine Five
The Alumine Five SX is derived from the award-winning Alumine Five SE, itself a version of the Alumine Five with increased specification including top of the range crossover components, binding posts from the Reference range and enhanced internal wiring. The Alumine Five SX is additionally equipped with a room control panel on the rear, originally seen on the more expensive Reference Ultime Two model, which enables different bass-treble profiles to be selected to adjust for room specifics. Sound quality is yet further enhanced by a new grounding post which allows the speaker to be connected to a grounding system. The Alumine Five SX is immediately recognizable by its anodized tweeter horn and side bars.
This phenomenal speaker is then set upon the Alumine Five plinth to complete the Alumine Five SX package
The Alumine Five LE is a limited edition of the all-new Alumine Five SX, creating the ultimate Alumine Five. Just 10 pairs are due to be made. Over and above the Five SX’s impressive specifications, the Five LE model boasts some luxury cosmetic appointments. Only available in Full Black, its tweeter horn, side bars, platform details and spike covers are gilded in gold leaf. The top baffle is covered in leather with a gold embroidered Stenheim logo. The rear baffle is adorned with a Stenheim emblem. An optional three-part flight case is available.
Like all Stenheim speakers, the Alumine Five SX and Alumine Five LE are designed and hand-built to order in Switzerland. They are a 3-way design featuring crossovers engineered with the finest quality components from boutique suppliers such as Mundorf and Jantzen and are equipped with highly efficient custom-built drivers (94 dB) enabling a wide variety of amplification to be used. .

The Reference Ultime Two made an immediate impression when it was released in 2021. This full d’Appolito arrayed 3-way reference speaker displayed its power and speed to convey the full excitement of musical performance. The Reference Ultime Two took the concepts that have become synonymous with everything that Stenheim stands for – full aluminium enclosures, highly efficient and dynamic organic drivers and superbly engineered crossovers made from world-class components – and put them in package that could fill large rooms and do justice to the finest audio systems.
The Reference Ultime Two is now available mounted on the Reference Platform U2 introduced in 2023 as an optional extra, creating the Reference Ultime Two SX.
The aluminium billet platform is constructed in a star shape out of 35kg (77 lbs) of solid aluminium, giving The Reference Ultime Two speakers greatly increased stability through enlarging their footprint considerably whilst at the same time providing optimal damping through its sheer mass. It is additionally designed to make it much easier to switch from the castors that enable the speakers to be positioned, to the spikes that will provide their permanent support. The platform’s spikes also offer a greater range of adjustment: 5cm (2.5 inches) in total than the standard spikes, and this is much easier to achieve by simply turning the hefty, knurled knobs. The result is that the sound can be fine-tuned as the speakers can be tilted from the vertical to provide the optimum angle in complete safety. Finally, different floor types can be catered for, as the Platform ships with three different spike ends for adapting it to thick carpet, hard or delicate floors.
Mating the already sonically impressive Reference Ultime Two to the Reference Platform U2 raises sound reproduction to even greater heights. The Platform extracts every drop of performance from the speakers through the damping and stability it provides as well as the set-up advantages it affords. For loudspeakers, set up is key to enable them to perform to their full potential, with even very small increments of height, rake or toe-in producing easily discernible differences in the sound. The Reference Ultime Two SX now offers more set-up adjustment than ever before through not only the U2 Platform but also the room control fine-tuning rear panel with which every Reference Ultime Two is equipped.
The Reference Ultime Two SX literally builds on everything that has made the Reference Ultime Two such a revered speaker, giving it a purposeful and authoritative outline and raising the listening experience to new summits.

High End Munich, May 9th-12th in room E216, will become a remarkable event for us. First of all we will celebrate 20 years of Grimm Audio! When we founded the company in 2004 we focussed on studio equipment. After the introduction of the LS1 in 2010, the hifi market took a strong share of our market. In Munich we will display all the products we developed during our 20 years in both the pro audio and hifi world – starting with the unique discrete design DSD AD converter AD1. On Thursday and Friday one of our first AD1 customers, Jared Sacks of Channel Classics and Just Listen Records, will give presentations about his recordings. People from his download platform Native DSD Music will also be present in our room.
And now the breaking news: to celebrate our anniversary we will present no less than two new products in Munich!
PW1
Introducing… the PW1 phono stage! Grimm Audio’s co-founder Peter van Willenswaard put many years of development in this ‘Phono Wizard’. In fact he spent a life time designing and improving phono preamps, both in solid state and with tubes. Of all stages of audio amplification, phono preamplifiers pose the biggest challenges to a designer. In this repect the solid state PW1 can be considered a true masterpiece.
The result is a well balanced design with Peter’s signature sound, that is very spacious, detailed and open, but at the same time rhythmically addictive and emotionally involving. Industrial designer Michiel Uylings of MU1 fame matched the spectacular sonics with a simple but powerful cabinet shape and Grimm Audio’s design team made the copper shielded interior look like a piece of art. The first batch of PW1 units is expected to ship in October.
LS1c
The second news is nothing short of sensational. We present to you a new flagship active loudspeaker, the LS1c. In 2010 the original LS1 was launched. In 2017 we released the LS1be with Berylium tweeter and SB1 motional feedback subwoofer. This year, after another 7 years, we introduce the LS1c with TPCD Carbon Composite tweeter. This tweeter is developed by our supplier Seas in cooperation with Composit Sound, manufacturer of cutting edge “metamaterial” membrane technology. By means of advanced modelling and computer controlled layering of carbon sheets, the membrane resonances and breakup behavior are fully controlled.
As a result a TPCD membrane has almost the same properties as the Berylium material we used in the LSbe. And this is very good news since the only manufacturer of Berylium membrane material recently stopped production… We placed the carbon tweeter in the proprietary aluminium waveguide that Seas developed for us, so the LS1c HiMacs version maintains the stunning ‘mounting screwless’ looks of the LS1be.
But we did not stop with just replacing the tweeter. The LS1c project demonstrates our long-term dedication to the LS1. Virtually all elements of this platform are renewed:
– The electronics have been redesigned and now carry the latest generation Hypex NCore class-D amplifiers. A remotely controlled stand-by function is prepared.
– The firmware of the platform has been rebuilt from the ground up, which improves its stability and opens doors to future developments.
– The PC remote software for Windows and Mac computers has also been completely redesigned. It is made with an in-house developed cross-platform GUI library toolkit.
– Our method of individual loudspeaker calibration for crossover filters and driver aberration equalization has further been refined.
– With the knowledge we gained from developing the MU1 and MU2 FPGA Pure Nyquist filters, we were able to dramatically improve the crossover phase correction filters of the LS1 DSP. The sonic improvement is stunning.
The LS1 concept has proven itself for more than a decade and we are dedicated to keep supporting and improving it. We clearly demonstrated this by putting many years of development into the new hardware, firmware, software, DSP, EQ and calibration methods. The LS1 platform is now better and more stable than ever. It is not without reason that dozens of studios rely on LS1s on a daily basis. All software, firmware and DSP improvements will become available to every Grimm Audio LS1 customer as a free update around this summer.
