Unico DM v2
Overview
The Unico DM v2 is the new flagship power amplifier in the Unico series, featuring a completely renewed design that is both elegant and modern. The project reflects the new stylistic language of the Unico product family, officially introduced with Unico PRE v2 and Unico DM v2.
Design
The front panel, machined from a solid 15-mm-thick aluminium block, conveys exceptional solidity and build precision. The Midnight Black and Velvet Gold finishes enhance every design detail, while the meticulously refined surface is pleasing both to the touch and to the eye. The 2-mm-thick aluminium top cover wraps around the entire amplifier, reinforcing a sense of robustness and visual continuity.
Wooden inserts recall the historic Unico logo, underlining the brand’s heritage. The Unison Research® logo itself becomes the On/Off power button: a distinctive detail that seamlessly combines functionality and identity.
Hybrid Architecture
Unico DM v2 adopts a refined dual-mono architecture, in which each channel is powered by its own 750 VA encapsulated toroidal transformer, potted and shielded to minimize electromagnetic interference. This approach ensures complete channel separation and delivers a wide, stable and three-dimensional soundstage. In bridged mono mode, the power supplies are connected in parallel to provide an even greater energy reserve.
The three-stage amplification circuit has been designed to combine musicality, control and dynamics. The first stage, a Class A valve stage using two ECC82 / 12AU7 Gold Lion valves, is the tonal heart of the amplifier, delivering speed, fine detail and a natural sound that conveys the full emotional impact of music. The second stage is solid-state and operates transparently to adapt the signal to the output stage. The final power stage features an innovative complementary push-pull configuration, using three parallel pairs of MOSFETs. Designed to deliver all the current required by the load, it ensures authoritative control, wide dynamics and consistently smooth, stable performance.
A.S.H.A.
With Unico DM v2, Unison Research® introduces the A.S.H.A. technology for the first time, marking a significant technical evolution that forms the foundation of the new Unico series developed around this innovative solution. From this technology comes a new and exclusive power-stage configuration, named Class A-AB, which combines the unmistakable musicality of Class A with the efficiency and reliability typical of Class AB.
The new architecture of Unico DM v2 ensures distortion levels that are virtually inaudible to the human ear, remaining consistent up to maximum output power. The result is extremely natural reproduction, rich in micro-detail and capable of conveying the full musical complexity without artefacts. Even at low listening levels, the amplifier retains body, control and depth in the low frequencies, delivering a full and engaging sound under all conditions.
At the same time, Unico DM v2 is a highly powerful amplifier: a generous and constantly available energy reserve allows it to drive even demanding loudspeakers with authority. In monophonic (bridged) operation, the two power supplies are electrically paralleled, effectively transforming the dual-mono architecture into a true monophonic amplifier with a single, powerful power supply. This configuration makes full use of the available energy capacity and has been engineered to deliver maximum output power with both 8-ohm and 4-ohm loudspeakers, offering immediate dynamics, great impact, and a sensation of absolute control—without ever sacrificing refinement and naturalness.

We fully understood this sudden arrangement will definitely gives trouble to you. Please accept our deepest apologies.
A new chapter rooted in legacy, precision and musical truth
Romanel, Switzerland – 26 January 2026 Audio Technology Switzerland, the Swiss reference in professional and high-end audio electronics, announces the launch of Series II, a new product family that bridges the gap between its Classic and HD ranges. The first model in this new line, the PREAMP II-S, marks both a return to Nagra’s roots and a forward-looking evolution in design, engineering, and musical performance.
Long before Nagra became a benchmark in high-end home audio, its name was synonymous with absolute reliability and uncompromising sound quality in professional recording. From the earliest days, music lovers recognised the exceptional sonic qualities of Nagra recorders and adopted them for domestic listening. That convergence of professional precision and musicality laid the foundation for Nagra’s home audio philosophy.
In 1998, Nagra formally entered the high-end hi-fi world with the PL-P, its first home-oriented product. This battery-powered tube preamplifier with integrated phono stage, featuring the iconic Modulometer™ and rotary selector, quickly became an icon. Over the years, a succession of acclaimed preamplifiers followed, culminating in the Classic PREAMP in 2016.
Nearly a decade later, Nagra’s engineers felt it was time for a fundamental rethinking – not merely a product update, but the creation of an entirely new family.
SERIES II: A NEW POSITION WITHIN THE NAGRA UNIVERSE
Series II occupies a distinct place within the Nagra hierarchy:
Reference – this product line represents the pinnacle of Nagra design.
HD – this series serves customers with larger spaces and uncompromising system requirements.
Series II – delivers reference-inspired engineering in a refined, more compact form.
Compact – this line maintains Nagra’s exceptional standards while offering stripped-back features and greater affordability.
The PREAMP II-S is the first expression of the new Series II philosophy.
NAGRA PREAMP II-S – KEY FEATURES
The return of the Modulometer™
Series II reintroduces the legendary Nagra ModulometerTM , directly inspired by the iconic Nagra IV-S reel-to-reel recorder. This precision instrument provides accurate visual monitoring of left and right channel levels while reaffirming Nagra’s unmistakable identity.
Mechanical expertise from the Reference line
Drawing on the mechanical know-how developed for the Reference turntable and Reference electronics, the PREAMP II-S benefits from advanced vibration control. A phenolic damping layer has been added beneath the aluminum top cover and is both glued and mechanically fixed in place. This construction effectively controls resonances and contributes directly to the preamplifier’s sonic stability, clarity and focus.
HD tube technology
At its core, the PREAMP II-S employs a new generation of tubes (or valves) shared with the Classic Phono, HD and Reference series. These tubes deliver enhanced transparency, superior micro-detail and more lifelike dynamic expression.
Design and ergonomics
Visually, the PREAMP II-S draws inspiration from the historic PL-P as well as Nagra’s HD and Reference lines. Key elements include:
A high-contrast OLED display, shared with the HD PHONO and Reference DAC, ensures excellent readability even from a distance.
Input selection is handled by a precision rotary encoder derived from the HD PHONO, fitted with a finely fluted aluminum knob whose mechanical quality is immediately apparent.
Faithful to the original PL-P concept, the power supply has been moved outside the chassis, eliminating potential interference from the mains.
Designed first and foremost around sound quality, the PREAMP II-S (and other forthcoming Series II components) maintains a footprint well suited to modern living spaces without compromising performance
Power supply architecture
The PREAMP II-S is supplied as standard with the Nagra Compact PSU, delivering an exceptionally clean and stable 12V/2A power source. For owners of a Nagra MPS or Classic PSU, the preamplifier can be ordered without a power supply. Power is delivered via a precision LEMO connector, a familiar element of Nagra’s professional heritage.
Gain stage philiosophy
Two selectable gain settings allow optimal system matching while preserving signal integrity. Most systems will benefit from operating the PREAMP II-S at 0dB gain, where it behaves almost like a passive preamplifier while maintaining an exceptionally low output impedance of 9 ohms. This ensures precise control over any power amplifier. When additional gain is required, +6dB can be engaged via a front-panel toggle switch.
Silence as a design principle
Decades of experience designing ultra-silent professional recorders are directly reflected in the PREAMP II-S. With a dynamic range of 125dB, it delivers an extraordinarily quiet sonic background, allowing music to emerge with maximum contrast, nuance and realism.
A familiar yet elevated sonic signature
Listeners familiar with the Classic PREAMP will immediately recognize its musical DNA: accuracy without a ‘clinical’ character, an expansive soundstage, lifelike dynamics and exceptional silence. The PREAMP II-S preserves this identity while elevating performance across every parameter — greater transparency, improved spatial definition, enhanced dynamics and a deeper sense of musical flow.
With the PREAMP II-S, Nagra opens a new chapter that honours its heritage while redefining a refined, reference-inspired approach to preamplification.
The new Momentum Z Monaural Amplifier marks the next stage in Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems relentless pursuit of musical perfection. Introduced in celebration of the company’s fifteenth anniversary, it builds upon the core technologies that have defined our amplifiers—advanced circuit design, precision-machined enclosures, and extraordinary power delivery. The Momentum Z takes performance to an entirely new level of refinement and control.
Born from the same design philosophy that established the original Momentum series as a benchmark in high-end amplification, the Momentum Z generation advances every facet of the platform. Its unique power supply technology, the Kinetic Drive Regulator, keeps the amplifier immune to AC mains irregularities and the speaker interaction issues that commonly degrade the performance of conventional amplifier designs. In addition to this proprietary innovation, every element of the Momentum Z has been reimagined, including the input stage topology, output stage circuitry, and an advanced software-based control system that optimizes the operation of every circuit group. Integrated within a newly refined thermal architecture, the Momentum Z delivers effortless dynamics, exceptional transparency, and a lifelike sense of musical scale.
Input Stage Highlights
The Momentum Z is the first D’Agostino amplifier to use a Junction Field-Effect Transistor (JFET) based input stage. At the very front end of an amplifier, where the delicate musical signal first enters the circuit, the choice of device is critical. JFETs excel in this role, offering ultra-high input impedance and exceptionally low noise, which together preserve every nuance of the source signal. From a technical standpoint, JFETs operate in a manner that provides a smooth, linear transfer characteristic with natural load handling. This design minimizes distortion and ensures that micro-level musical details are passed into the amplification stages intact, without being masked or colored. The benefits are immediately clear: a quieter background that reveals subtle spatial cues, a more natural midrange presence that brings vocals and acoustic instruments to life, and a sense of openness that enhances the soundstage. By using JFETs in the input stage, the amplifier achieves a rare balance of technical precision and musical warmth, allowing recordings to be experienced with both accuracy and emotional impact.
Internet Connectivity
With an integrated RJ45 Ethernet connection, the Momentum Z provides a glimpse into the performance and service parameters the software-based control system is optimizing. Through any web browser, users can view amplifier performance data including operating voltages, temperature, bias, DC offset, 12V trigger status, and more—all continuously monitored and displayed on connected devices via their home network. The same dashboard also provides control over front panel display settings for a personalized user experience.
Design
A defining hallmark of Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Momentum amplifiers is the distinctive use of solid copper heat sinks, a choice driven equally by engineering performance and visual impact. With nearly twice the thermal conductivity of aluminum, copper draws heat away from the output devices more quickly and uniformly. Immediately striking is the new, advanced 5-axis machined copper heat sink design, each formed from a single 42 lb (19 kg) slab of copper billet. The highly efficient elliptical geometry significantly enhances cooling performance, ensuring that Momentum Z operates safely and reliably even at full power. This exceptional thermal efficiency not only improves long-term reliability and longevity, but also maintains optimal operating conditions for the amplifier’s critical circuitry, preserving sonic stability under the most demanding loads.
The Momentum Z features a Dual Domain Meter Display designed to echo the elegance of the Swiss watch, inspired analog meters found throughout the D’Agostino product line. The first domain is digital: in place of a passive meter face, Momentum Z employs a 3.5-inch high-resolution LCD that serves as both a power meter and a message display. The second domain is analog, where – true to D’Agostino tradition, power is indicated by the iconic meter wand, a defining visual and functional element of D’Agostino power amplifiers.
Next year will be the premiere for a new queen in our portfolio. Expect in 2026 nothing less than the next game changer – designed and executed with all the passion and everything we know, of everything we can and everything reflecting our brand. Stay tuned…
