  • dCS Varèse Transport

Discover our quietest, lowest vibration Transport to date

The Varèse Music System now includes a dedicated CD/SACD Transport, for listeners who wish to experience the best possible sound from their silver discs

The Varèse Music System is our most ambitious creation to date. It is the culmination of six years intensive development – a series of projects undertaken to explore how we could further improve audio performance, whilst at the same time creating an even more immersive playback experience.

The system launched with five components – Core, User Interface, dual Mono DACs, and Master Clock – plus the Varèse Remote and Mosaic ACTUS app. We have now added a dedicated CD/SACD Transport, available from September 2025.

The Varèse Transport builds on our long heritage of developing dedicated components for CD and SACD playback. Its design reflects our overarching ambition with Varèse – to further advance the state-of-the-art, whilst also simplifying system setup and use – and it’s a product we are thrilled to share.

    Supporting CD Playback

dCS has been making CD & SACD transports since 2000. Our first, the Verdi, launched at a time when CDs were ubiquitous and the preferred mode of listening for a large portion of music lovers. New technologies have of course emerged, and there are now a multitude of ways to access digital music, but we know there are many listeners worldwide who still enjoy playing CDs and Super Audio CDs in their native format. We also know that many CD and SACD owners have amassed large collections of recordings that are not currently available in any other format.

We believe these listeners should be able to experience the best possible sound from their silver discs, and so we have continued to invest in developing dedicated transports, and exploring how we can improve CD and SACD playback, at the same time as supporting music streaming and playback from a wealth of other digital sources.

When developing products, our goal is always to deliver ‘Only the Music’ – reducing the factors that can affect audio performance such as noise, distortion and vibration to the lowest possible levels, whilst ensuring all aspects of the audio signal are preserved.

The same is true of our transports. We’ve taken extensive measures to reduce noise and vibration and ensure that listeners are able to hear the full range of musical information contained on their CDs and SACDs. This involves paying close attention to all aspects of mechanical and electronic design, selecting the most robust and stable mechanisms, and ensuring that electronics and mechanisms within our Transports are fed with the cleanest possible voltages for optimal performance, among other factors. As our technologies have evolved, we’ve continued to push Transport design, making improvements to software, hardware and chassis constructions so that we can further enhance people’s listening experience.

Varèse Transport: New Features & Innovations

The Varèse Transport continues this tradition. It is the quietest, lowest vibration dCS Transport to date, benefitting from an all-new chassis design, and the use of our bespoke ACTUS interface.

The Transport plays Redbook CDs in their native 44.1kS/s format, and SACDs in their native DSD format. It connects to the Varèse Core via dCS ACTUS, with a single cable running from the Varèse Core to the Transport. This allows for bit perfect transmission of audio signals, with asynchronous audio, control and timing signals all sent via the ACTUS interface.

This configuration has enabled simpler setup and enhanced control. The Varèse Transport automatically syncs to a master clock signal via ACTUS (provided by the Varèse Clock, if present, or the Varèse Core if no clock is connected), removing the need for listeners to manually configure sync mode settings. The Transport can be connected via the Varèse User Interface, Varèse Remote Control, or Mosaic ACTUS app – giving listeners more ways to control Transport playback.

In its mechanical design and styling, the Varèse Transport matches the rest of the Varèse range, drawing on insights gained from extensive research to explore how we could further improve chassis design. The top, sides and front of the chassis are machined from a single piece of billet aluminium – an approach also seen in the Varèse Clock, Core and Mono DACS – with constrained layer damping between the chassis base and dress plates. Mechanism mounts are also milled from a single piece of aluminium, with no joins or fixings – all features devised to aid performance.

The Transport utilises the same mechanism seen in the Vivaldi Transport II and Rossini Transport, but this has been mounted with a new method that further reduces noise and physical vibrations.

    Varèse Transport: Overview

    3,080,000 YEN (税込)
    TAD-A1000-K(ブラック)
    3,135,000 YEN (税込)

Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc., today announced the TAD-A1000 integrated amplifier as the latest addition to its Evolution Series of hi-fi audio components. The TAD-A1000 also represents the inaugural TAD-branded integrated amplifier.

In the design of the TAD-A1000, we have integrated our proven amplifier technologies—including current-feedback amplification and resistance-ladder electronic volume control for preamplifiers, and a class-D analog amplification platform for power amplifiers—into a single unit. The TAD-A1000 harmoniously complements TAD’s Evolution Series speaker systems, delivering powerful and articulate sound, a hallmark of TAD’s tradition.

    Main Features

    1) Ultimate symmetry in circuitry and layout

The precise alignment of positive and negative currents that go through a speaker unit’s voice coils is paramount for driving its diaphragm with unparalleled accuracy. To achieve this, the TAD-A1000 employs a bridge-tied load (BTL) design that connects two distinct amplifiers in a balanced configuration for the left and right channels, spanning the input through output stages. This design ensures absolute symmetry between positive and negative power supplies. Furthermore, transformer coils, as well as rectifying, smoothing, and stabilizing circuits, are provided separately for each channel. This configuration achieves symmetry between the two channels in the circuit board layout and pattern—and even in wiring length. Our meticulous efforts to attain ultimate symmetry between left and right channels and between positive and negative signals extend further. The TAD-A1000 enhances its performance by incorporating separate grounding points for its pre- and power amplification stages.

    2) High-capacity transformers with greater purity and efficiency

The TAD-A1000’s power supply is supported by a high-capacity toroidal transformer coupled with a linear regulator. To enhance the purity of the power supply, the internal coils of the transformer are directly connected to the power supply circuit, thereby minimizing their contact points with leading wires. Furthermore, terminals for directly connected coils, mounting terminals for circuit boards, and clamping screws are all fabricated from pure copper and coated with nonmagnetic materials to eliminate even the slightest magnetic distortions. The cross-sectional design of the transformer core was crafted into a circular shape, which improves the contact between the core and coils, thereby minimizing unwanted leakage magnetic flux and vibrations. This transformer provides power to the power amplifier, preamplifier, and control circuits, resulting in a robust power supply characterized by enhanced purity and responsiveness, which contributes to the exceptionally accurate driving of speaker diaphragms.

    3) Immaculate preamplification circuit

The TAD-A1000’s flat amplifier in the preamplification stage features a high-performance, single-stage current-feedback amplifier, initially developed for Reference Series preamplifiers. To optimize signal complementarity, we evaluated the performance characteristics of each FET device and selected matching pairs for positive and negative elements in the TAD-A1000. This attention to detail has substantially enhanced the stability of its preamplification circuit.

    4) Center-mounted, ball-bearing-supported volume knob

The TAD-A1000’s volume knob exudes an exquisite aesthetic and tactile experience. Its installation atop high-precision ball bearings ensures an exceptionally smooth rotation. The center-mounted design embodies the symmetrical layout of the internal circuits, conferring upon the TAD-A1000 a refined, elegant appearance in the tradition of the Evolution Series of high-fidelity components.

    5) Elaborate vibration-control design

The TAD-A1000’s preamplification stage, power amplification stage, transformer, and control circuit are physically separated into four distinct chambers within the case. This four-chambered internal construction effectively shields the entire unit against external vibrations and provides a robust and stable ground potential. Notably, its power supply section is mechanically and electrically shielded to minimize noise and enhance signal purity. The TAD-A1000’s sturdy body is supported by three feet, each equipped with an internally inverted spike. This design physically isolates the chassis from external vibrations transmitted through the floor. The minimal contact between the TAD-A1000 and the surface prevents external vibrations from affecting internal circuits and components. This comprehensive vibration-control design enables more condensed and energetic audio reproduction, preserving the spatial nuances of the music. The rear panel features heavy-duty, extra-large speaker terminals, similar to those found in the Reference Series power amplifiers. These terminals reduce mechanical and electrical stress on connected speaker cables, enhancing their stability and optimizing their performance.

    6) TAD’s custom-made parts and components

We have incorporated a variety of our custom-made components and parts into the design of the TAD-A1000 to elevate its audio quality to unprecedented heights. TAD’s custom-designed electronic volume control features ladder-resistant switching, delivering exceptionally precise attenuation performance and a ultra-low distortion of less than 0.0005% at 1 Vrms input. Nonmagnetic capacitors and resistors are employed in the audio circuit to minimize magnetic effects. To prevent magnetic distortions from compromising sound quality, gold-plated OFC leading wires without nickel base-plating are utilized for resistors and low-distortion film capacitors that handle all- critical analog audio signals. Furthermore, chip resistors with nonmagnetic electrodes reduce current loops. Additionally, four large-capacity 33,000㎌electrolytic smoothing capacitors are employed in the power amplification stage. These capacitors are of TAD’s proprietary design, developed through rigorous testing and listening evaluations.

    ■Features

    Integrated Amplifier A-2 ver. 2

    · The output stage is a parallel push-pull design using the same high-speed, high-output TO3P transistors used in the A-3.
    · The output stage transistors are precisely paired with hfe, eliminating the sound bleeding drawback of parallel push-pull designs.
    · The driver stage also uses the same TO3P transistors as the output stage. By supplying a large current to the driver, hfe fluctuations caused by current changes in the output stage are instantly compensated for, generating powerful driving force. This is the biggest difference and breakthrough from the original.
    · The voltage amplification stage circuit was also newly developed for the A-2 ver. 2. It has been significantly simplified from the original, and the bias circuit has also been completely redesigned.
    · Uses a large, non-impregnated toroidal power transformer.
By lowering the output voltage compared to the original, instantaneous current supply capacity at low impedance is prioritized over maximum output at 8Ω. This significantly improves the perceived power and grip.
    · The same relay-based resistor-switched volume circuit as the original is still used.
    · The clearance of the free-standing top cover has been increased to improve the sense of openness.
Other chassis construction techniques are incorporated based on the 3 Series.
(Same for the E-2 ver. 2 and D-2 ver. 2.)

    D/A Converter D-2 ver. 2

    · The analog circuit features a fully balanced, non-feedback, new Type-R circuit developed for the E-3, optimized for DAC use. It achieves clarity and dynamics approaching those of the 3 Series.
    · The external clock terminal uses a new, reinforced SMA terminal with excellent high-frequency characteristics. The conversion plug previously required to connect the X-3 clock generator is no longer necessary. Using the X-3 dramatically improves the overall sound quality.
    · All of the know-how from the 3 Series has been applied to the digital circuitry, power supply circuitry, and chassis. The sense of openness and richness of expression have been significantly improved.

    E-2 Ver. 2 Phono Equalizer
    · The optical cartridge terminal uses the same XLR terminal for a separate power cable as the E-3. This maximizes the benefits of optical cartridges.
    · The analog circuit for optical cartridges uses the same fully balanced, non-feedback New Type-R circuit as the E-3.
    · The MC/MM circuit has also been simplified, with a completely new bias circuit, significantly improving quality.
    · The fixed top cover has also been improved, as with the A-2 Ver. 2.
    · Supports MC loads up to 1KΩ.
    · Retains all the original’s diverse features, including the variable EQ curve.

    • The New Type-R circuit is our collective term for fully balanced, non-feedback circuits composed of ground-to-ground amplification and ground-to-ground emitter follower.

  • Davone Reference Three

Capturing the essence of the acclaimed Reference series into a simpler, elegant form, the Reference Three combines clarity and openness with a room-filling sense of atmosphere. Music is revealed with refinement and ease, making every performance both engaging and inviting

    More than Beryllium

Due to its incredible rigidity, Beryllium represents the ultimate material for a tweeter dome. Where soft domes turn choirs into grain, hard rock into noise, Beryllium can separate the complex harmonics with ease and keep the music clean and precise, also at high listening levels. But we do not stop there. Opting for an unconventional approach, we mount the dome flush with the baffle, as opposed to the typical recessed placement, allowing the dome to unleash its wide off-axis response without obstruction—vital for achieving an expansive, open sound. This unique dome placement is a rarity, demanding meticulous baffle rounding to prevent diffraction and a more intricate crossover design. However, the resulting benefits outweigh the challenges. Complementing this design, we employ an exceptionally narrow surround to eliminate any lingering “soft dome” coloration. With a mere 0.1-gram moving mass and a magnetic flux density of 2.0 Tesla, our high frequencies reach reference-level quality.

    A Cellulose Glass Composite

By combining cellulose with fine glass fibers, this cone material unites the best of two worlds. Cellulose brings damping qualities and warm, natural tone, while glass fibers add stiffness and control, reducing unwanted resonances. The coating process further stabilizes the cone and ensures consistent performance across the audible spectrum. Where traditional paper membranes can introduce colorations at higher levels, the Cellulose glass composite maintains neutrality and detail, even under demanding dynamics. Supporting this, a Balanced Drive motor structure minimizes distortion by keeping the voice coil motion symmetrical, ensuring clarity and precision throughout the range. This careful balance allows the woofer to deliver a smooth, natural midrange together with an articulate and well-controlled bass. The result is a driver that is both musical and precise—an ideal foundation for the Reference Three, offering an engaging, open sound with a remarkable sense of ease

    VOICE OF SONUS FABER

A testament to our Natural Sound philosophy, Amati Supreme inherited the advanced “Voice of Sonus faber” (VOS) from Suprema. The silk dome tweeter and super tweeter extend the high-frequency range with remarkable clarity and delicacy, while the Camelia midrange unit, enhanced with our Phase Plug, ensures an extraordinary control of the mid frequencies.

The drivers – tweeter, super tweeter and midrange – are the exact same of Suprema.

    CORK

Amati Supreme’s tweeter and midrange are loaded into a dedicated volume damped with cork – designed to nurture internal volume, and further enhance the performance of the drivers.

This cork surface is realized through the use of computer simulation, yet the resulting unit is truly organic in shape; without regular shapes and constructed from a completely natural and sustainable material.

As a brand famed for innovation, Sonus faber can once again proudly claim another design and engineering first – pioneering the use of cork to create acoustic volume. The acoustic properties of this material play a fundamental role in the resolution and natural quality of Amati Supreme’s midrange performance.

    THE ADJUSTER

Amati Supreme’s intuitive MID-HIGH and MID-BASS tunable system allows listeners to customize the soundscape to their personal space. • Accuphase DP-570S

    792,000 YEN

The DP-570S combines traditional Accuphase craftsmanship with cutting-edge circuitry and mechanical technology, refining sound with a rich sensitivity and attention to detail, enabling high-quality playback of all digital sources, including SA-CD/CD and high-resolution audio. The transport section features a highly rigid, high-precision SA-CD/CD drive with a quiet and elegant loading mechanism, while also employing a heavyweight structure that minimizes vibration and resonance. The disc loading mechanism uses an elastic damper, developed through research into materials and shapes, to support the traverse mechanism, suppressing resonance in the objective lens actuator that reads the disc, improving reading accuracy. This accurately read music data is then sent to the digital processor section, which uses four high-performance ESS ES9028PRO DACs driven in parallel and the company’s proprietary MDS+ playback method to reduce conversion errors. In addition, by combining our unique “ANCC” technology, various characteristics have been significantly improved, including even lower distortion and noise, allowing the infinite possibilities and charm of SA-CD to be fully realized.Four digital input terminals are provided: HS-LINK (compatible with Ver.2), coaxial, optical, and USB (compatible with PCM: 384kHz/32bit, DSD: up to 11.2MHz).

ディジタル入力端子は、HS-LINK(Ver.2対応)、同軸、光、USB(PCM:384kHz/32bit、DSD:11.2MHzまで対応)の4系統を装備しています。
