New Nagra Compact Phono stage, for the love of vinyl
Romanel, Switzerland – 25th March 2025 Perpetuating a long legacy of excellence in phono stages since the Nagra PL-P, the new Nagra Compact Phono offers the greater part of its predecessors’ quality and performance in a compact and elegant housing. The signal path has been simplified to the extreme to offer the quintessence of RIAA correction for the best MC cartridges.
Phono reproduction was at the heart of our very first Hi-Fi product, the Nagra PL-P.
Inspired by the legendary microphone preamplifier in the Nagra IV-S reel-to-reel tape recorder, the phono section of the PL-P received accolades from around the world.
Since then, the phono section of the PL-P has been reincarnated several times with the Nagra VPS, the BPS, the Classic Phono and recently the HD Phono. While they use different technologies and components, they are faithful to the original design, centred around a Nagra-made, step-up transformer.
The latest iteration is the Compact Phono. Housed in the same chassis as the Streamer, its solid construction protects it from unwanted vibrations. No compromises in sound quality were made to enable it to fit in the compact chassis. However, we have simplified the different settings and shortened the signal paths as much as possible. As a result, the Compact Phono offers amazing performance for a fraction of the cost of its competitors.
The Compact Phono features:
Vibration-controlled housing, machined from a solid billet of aluminum
MC input on 10 dB step-up transformer (same as Nagra VPS)
Selected transistors operating in class A
All discrete-component topology
Dual-mono layout
Selectable gain of 62 / 47.5 dB
RIAA curve
100 Ohm load (additional loads available from Nagra dealers)
External 12 V DC power supply
Ultra-high rejection ratio regulators coupled with dual-stage filter on internal power supply
The Compact Phono can be further upgraded to achieve even greater performance using the Nagra MPS or Classic PSU power supplies. In this case, a Lemo to DC cable is required.
To minimize vibration, it can also rest on a VFS or on its own Compact VFS, currently under development.
The Nagra Turntable and cartridges gave us a new benchmark to design the Nagra HD Phono and now the Compact Phono.
Whilst its size and price, for a Nagra product, may mislead you, this is a very ambitious unit and it is fully worthy of the Nagra logo engraved on its front.

TADL Announces TAD-M2500TX Evolution-Series Power Amplifier Loaded with Upgraded Features and Performance
Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc., today announced the TAD-M2500TX two-channel power amplifier as the newest addition to its Evolution Series of hi-fi audio components.
The TAD-M2500TX power amplifier boasts a completely redesigned circuit layout, upgraded power transformers, and a redesigned machined aluminum chassis, and provides 550 watts of power per channel at 4 ohms. When connected to TAD speakers in the Evolution Series, the M2500TX delivers powerful sound with exceptional clarity, for which every TAD hi-fi component is known.
Main Features
1) Ultimate symmetry in circuitry and layout
Sources of positive and negative currents that go through a speaker unit’s voice coils must be identical to drive its diaphragm with utmost precision. To that end, the TAD-M2500TX employs a BTL (bridge-tied load) design that connects two separate amplifiers in a balanced configuration for the left and right channels in the amplification circuit from input through output stages. In this design, positive and negative power supplies maintain perfect symmetry between them, and all power supply circuits are designed separately for each channel. The redesigned machined aluminum chassis has no joints and helps reduce the impedance of the grounding point that serves as a reference point for symmetry. Our meticulous effort to achieve ultimate symmetry between left and right channels and between positive and negative signals did not stop there. We redesigned the grounding point not only electrically but also structurally, and redesigned the circuit and its layout in the first amplification stage.
2) High-capacity transformers with greater purity and efficiency
The TAD-M2500TX is powered by upgraded twin high-capacity toroidal transformers with a power rating of 1 kVA each. To increase the purity of power supply, the internal coil of the transformer is directly connected to the power supply circuit, minimizing the contact points with leading wires. Moreover, terminals for directly connected coils, mounting terminals for motherboards, and clamping screws are all made of oxygen-free copper coated with nonmagnetic materials to eliminate even the slightest magnetic distortions. The shape of the cross-section of the transformer core has been redesigned to circular in the TAD-M2500TX, from square in its predecessor. The circular design improves contact between the core and coils, minimizing unwanted leakage magnetic flux and vibrations. The result is a power supply with greater purity and responsiveness, contributing to the exceptionally accurate driving of speaker diaphragms.
3) Power rating of 550 watts per channel at 4 ohms
The TAD-M2500TX delivers an incredible 550 watts of power per channel at 4 ohms. This is made possible by the simplified Class-D single-output-stage consisting of power MOSFET devices with ultra-low on-resistance in leadless packages that boast minimum power losses and high-speed responses. Combined with a machined aluminum chassis with superb heat dissipation, the result is powerful yet responsive and agile sound reproduction.
4) Meticulous vibration-control design
TAD-M2500TX’s chassis is machined from a 90 kg solid block of aluminum. Its heavy and joint-free design eliminates an adverse effect of external vibrations and helps stabilize the ground potential and music signals delivered to speakers. The immense body of the TAD-M2500TX is supported by a three-point support structure with internally inverted spikes, which physically isolates its chassis from external vibrations traveling through the floor. The minimum contact with the surface on which the TAD-M2500TX sits keeps external vibrations from traveling through the feet and adversely affecting circuits and parts inside the case. This elaborate vibration-control design results in more condensed and energetic audio reproduction with spatial nuance of the music retained intact. Heavy-duty, extra-large speaker terminals on the rear panel, similar to the ones found in the Reference Series power amplifiers, reduce mechanical and electrical stress on connected speaker cables to improve their stability and bring out the best of them.
5) Bi-amping option
The TAD-M2500TX offers a bi-amping option for compatible speakers. With this option, one TAD-M2500TX can be connected to the tweeter terminals of right and left speakers, and another to their woofer terminals. The bi-amping connection eliminates interference between speaker units and improves their separation. This option brings out the best of amplifiers and speakers, enabling them to deliver sound with exceptional clarity.

This is the current-enhanced version of the M-3. It has doubled the current supply capacity without compromising the spatial expression and penetration of the single push, and has succeeded in further expanding the range of profound musical expression.
Parallel push-pull output with precise transistor pairs
厳密なトランジスタペアによるパラレルプッシュプル出力段
Focusing on the curve of change in current gain (hfe) against current change during music playback, we performed strict transistor pairing by aligning this, and realized an ideal parallel push-pull close to a single push-pull. The output stage transistors use a pair of industrial TO3 (metal can type) transistors used in the M-3. In order to easily drive the two TO3 transistors, a TO3P transistor is also used in the driver stage, resulting in a total of four-stage Darlington configuration.

The Anniversary preamp was developed to celebrate our 30 years since we formed the company. It was an exercise to take the performance of our SE preamp to a higher level. In addition to the SE model :
The transformer attenuators are made with custom nanocrystalline core material It has a special ultra pure topology in the active gain stage using silver wound nanocrystalline transformers at input and output. No cap in the signal path. It’s all point to point wired with ultra pure silver wire. It uses only high quality film capacitors (no electrolytics) in the power supply and also very high inductance double C-core amorphous choke filter.
The anniversary preamp uses the same C3m tubes ,1 per ch., and rectifier tube.
The front display is our newest design with large characters and selectable colors from the settings menu of the preamp.
Introducing the all new Scansonic M-series – filled with trickledown technology from the multi award winning sister company Raidho, and featuring high-resolution sound, known from much more expensive speakers.
The M-series is a high-performance range which features a unique ribbon tweeter for clear and highly detailed upper frequencies, as well as specially designed honeycomb Kevlar woofers which offer superior rigidity and performance.
