This innovation represents a significant leap forward in whole-home audio integration, breaking down the barriers between traditional audio equipment and modern streaming capabilities. By creating a new connection between network devices and Roon’s sophisticated multiroom audio platform, Roon Ready Relay opens up exciting new possibilities for anyone using Roon.
Roon Ready Relay technology works differently than traditional Roon Ready devices. Instead of receiving audio from your Roon Server, Relay technology seamlessly routes sound from select audio sources in your home through Roon. From there, the audio signal can be routed to any supported device — whether that’s AirPlay, Google Cast, phone, tablet, and laptop-based Roon controllers, or over 1000 high-performance Roon Ready devices.
Networked gear that performs digital conversion for sophisticated DSP processing — including those that convert analog signals — could potentially be routed through Roon. Roon Ready Relay could liberate legacy media formats and wired systems that are traditionally bound to a single room and radically expand their capabilities.
Hi-Fi sources like CD players, tape decks, turntables, reel-to-reel, and others that are connected to a Relay device could send audio — including Hi-Res FLAC — to different zones or grouped devices. Roon Ready Relay passthrough can even be enhanced with signal processing such as EQ, sample rate conversion, or OPRA headphone tuning using Roon’s MUSE Precision Audio Control suite.
